An RPZ (Reduced Pressure Zone) valve is designed for use in commercial and industrial applications to avoid back syphonage and pollution of the potable water distribution system. Based in the Yorkshire Water region, ICE Plumbing and Water Services Limited specialise in the nationwide supply, installation and testing of RPZ valves.
To meet water regulations, RPZ valves are subject to an annual test by the local water authority which can only be carried out by an accredited RPZ tester. As a WRAS approved RPZ tester, ICE Plumbing and Water Services Limited can plan and carry out all your RPZ testing, and also liaise with your local water authority on your behalf. We are Yorkshire Water, Severn Trent Water and Thames Water approved suppliers as well as a WaterSafe Approved Business with WIAPS Approved Plumbers. Our service of supply, testing and installing RPZ valves covers the whole of the UK. Please contact us for more information on how we can reduce your annual RPZ testing costs.

Risk Categories can vary dependent on the specific application. Clarification and approval would always be sought from your local Water Company prior to the installation of RPZ valves.
Backflow, causing cross-contamination between potable and non-potable water supplies, can constitute a serious public health hazard. RPZ valves will provide protection against this hazard.
An RPZ valve consists of two independent check valves, plumbed in series, with a pressure monitored chamber between them, forming a Reduced Pressure Zone (RPZ). They act as a backflow preventer and provide mains water protection to category 4 fluid contamination risk situations.
The RPZ valve must be installed above the floor, horizontally, with the relief valve discharging downwards. An in-line strainer should be installed upstream to prevent fouling of the assembly elements. The RPZ valve should be in a location that enables effective inspection, testing and maintenance. The valve should not be installed in concealed locations or locations liable to flooding, freezing, above electrical equipment or liable to mechanical or other damage.
If your premises has an RPZ valve installed, it is a legal requirement that this be checked by an authorised tester. RPZ valves are subject to a compulsory annual test by the local water authority which can only be carried out by a WRAS accredited RPZ tester.
ICE Plumbing & Water Services test RPZ valves from all major valve manufacturers including Honeywell, Altecnic, Nabic, Danfoss Socla, Conbraco, Reliance Water Controls and Watts Industries. All valve sizes are covered by our comprehensive supply test, repair and replacement service. ICE Plumbing & Water Services are approved suppliers of Watts and Danfoss Socla RPZ valves.
